I never thought I’d be telling a weight loss story at 67, but here I am. Six months ago, I was carrying around extra weight, dealing with high blood pressure, and feeling sluggish most of the time. My doctor told me I needed to make some serious changes—lose weight, cut down on sugar and salt, and try to manage my blood pressure without medication. I’d been thinking about it for a while, but that visit kind of pushed me to really do something.
Cutting Out Bad Habits
Before I started this journey, my daily routine wasn’t doing me any favors. I drank soda throughout the day, loaded my coffee with sugar, and ate milk and cookies at night.
After my doctor’s warning, I decided: no more soda, no more sugary snacks, and no more sugar in my coffee. I wasn’t sure how much of a difference it would make, but I knew I had to start somewhere.
Around the same time, Jamie introduced me to Almased. I decided to give it a try.
Getting Started with Almased
I started with the only drinking Almased for the first three days, and then I transitioned to having 2 shakes a day and a meal.
Every morning, instead of breakfast, I would mix Almased into my coffee then later in the day make another Almased shake. I used energy drinks by made V8 and orange juice for flavor, blended it up, and that was it. For lunch and dinner, I would eat a small healthy meal.
The first couple of weeks, I dropped weight fast. After that, the weight loss averaged out but has been consistent - I was still losing a couple of pounds every week.
Making Sure I Keep Muscle
I also stay active—I try to work for at least four hours every morning, doing construction projects around the house or going in to work. I figure as long as I’m moving and getting enough protein, I won’t lose muscle.
Seeing Results
In six months, I lost 40 pounds—going from 265 lbs to 225 lbs.
But it wasn’t just about the number on the scale. I felt different:
- My clothes fit better—I went from a 38-inch waist to a 36.
- My energy went up—I used to nap every afternoon, but now I rarely feel the need to.
- My blood pressure got better—I’ve been able to keep it under control without medication.
- My man boobs went down, too, haha—I’m glad that I lost weight in my chest ‘cause that’s what most men are worried about.
- I felt stronger—working around the house and climbing ladders became easier.
I’ve been working on my RV since a tree fell on it during Hurricane Milton, and I’ve been up and down a ladder every day. Before, that kind of work would wear me out, but now I can keep going for hours.
Sharing My Story
When I went back to my doctor, he was impressed. He asked me what I did to lose it, and I told him about Almased. He seemed really interested.
At home, my wife, Kathy and I both started eating healthier. We cut back on sweets, and it’s made a difference.
Looking Ahead
Even though I’ve hit 225 lbs, I’m not stopping. Because for me, Almased wasn’t just about losing weight—it was about feeling better, having more energy, and taking control of my health, so that I’m around longer to see my grandchildren grow up.
I never expected to lose 40 pounds at 67, but it happened because of Almased. And I feel better than I have in years. If I can do it, anyone can.
